Her late father, S. L. Sharma, was a merchant navy captain from Madurai. She attended Auxilium Convent High School in Wadala, Mumbai, until class ten. She abandoned her studies after the 12th grade and began dancing.

She received her Kathak diploma from the Natraj Gopi Krishna Kathak Dance Academy.  Adah Sharma has received training in a variety of Indian and Western dance styles. She then attended Mumbai University to get a degree in School Psychology. However, to pursue her acting career, she dropped out of college in her first year.
