Kriti Sanon was born in Delhi to a chartered accountant, Rahul Sanon, and a professor at Delhi University, Geeta Sanon. She received her primary and secondary education at Delhi Public School, R K Puram. She has been interested in performing since she was in school and has always aspired to be an actress. While she was in college, she entered a website contest in which her sister, Nupur Sanon, clicked and emailed her images. Fortunately, she won the internet website contest, and the famous Indian photographer Dabboo Ratnani handed her a free portfolio.

She pursued her bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication from the Jaypee Institute of Technology. Kriti has a younger sister, Nupur Sanon. Kriti Sanon traveled to Mumbai after turning down two job offers in Delhi to pursue her dream of making it big in the film industry.
