Akash Madhwal was born in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, in the city of Roorkee. Akash Madhwal originally hails from Dungra village, Uttarakhand. However, Akash Madhwal’s family moved to Roorkee over 30 years ago as a result of Akash Madhwal’s father Ghana Nand, who had served in the MES wing of the Army there. Both his basic and senior education were completed at Roorkee Public Senior School in Uttarakhand. In 2016, Akash Madhwal enrolled in the College of Engineering Roorkee to pursue a degree in civil engineering, from which Akash Madhwal successfully graduated.

Career :

In order to pursue cricket as a professional career, Akash Madhwal left his engineering position. In Uttarakhand, where Akash Madhwal played primarily with tennis balls, Akash Madhwal developed his skillets to deliver and master the art of bowling Yorkers. While still a young player, Akash Madhwal also developed excellent control when executing Yorkers. Since the Uttarakhand Cricket Association became affiliated with the BCCI in 2018, Akash Madhwal has been requested to participate in trials held by that organization. It ultimately signaled Akash Madhwal’s breakthrough into professional cricket at the age of 24. Akash Madhwal attracted the interest of both the then-head coach of Uttarakhand, Wasim Jaffer, and the current head coach of Uttarakhand, Manish Jha, in 2019. The pair encouraged Akash Madhwal to pick up the red ball, and Akash Madhwal started practicing with it. Jaffer selected Akash Madhwal for the Uttarakhand state squad, and Manish Jha helped Akash Madhwal further hone his talent. Akash Madhwal trained under Rishabh Pant’s former instructor, Avtar Singh, during his formative years. On November 8, 2019, Akash Madhwal took part in his first Twenty20 game for Uttarakhand in the 2019–20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Akash Madhwal made his debut for Uttarakhand in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy on December 25, 2019. In the 2020–2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Akash Madhwal made his List A debut for Uttarakhand on February 21, 2021. Prior to the domestic 2023 season, Akash Madhwal was named captain of the Uttarakhand T20 squad.

IPL :

For the 2019 Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore hired Akash Madhwal as a net bowler. When Surya Kumar Yadav became injured, Akash Madhwal was promoted to the team and played the full season for Mumbai Indians, who had first engaged him as a net bowler for the 2022 Indian Premier League. Akash Madhwal, however, didn’t participate in any of the 2022 IPL season’s games. Akash Madhwal did not start for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League of 2023. The following league stage encounter at Mohali versus Punjab Kings presented him with his chance, and Akash Madhwal seized it with both hands, making his IPL debut and establishing himself in the league. Even though Akash Madhwal’s debut was difficult because Akash Madhwal gave up 37 runs in three overs without picking up a wicket, by bowling the last over of the Punjab Kings’ inning and showcasing some of his death bowling abilities, Akash Madhwal did well. The first native cricketer from Uttarakhand to play in the Indian Premier League was Akash Madhwal. Since taking over for Arjun Tendulkar in the Mumbai Indians bowling line-up, Akash Madhwal’s reputation has grown. Akash Madhwal has established himself as the team’s go-to, dependable bowler for crucial moments in 2023 IPL matches. Akash Madhwal was recruited by Mumbai Indians, a scouting network renowned for discovering and developing emerging potential. Akash Madhwal’s bowling efforts eventually secured Mumbai Indians a playoff berth with Mumbai Indians taking fourth spot in the points table. In the eliminator game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 24, 2023, Akash Madhwal returned with figures of 5/5 in 3.3 overs to reduce Lucknow Super Giants to 101 all out in a high-scoring, difficult run chase of 183. In addition, Akash Madhwal 5/5 bowling figures are the best bowling figures ever recorded by a bowler in an IPL playoff match, breaking Doug Bollinger’s 13-year-old record of 4/13, which he achieved for Chennai Super Kings against Deccan Chargers in the 2010 Indian Premier League season. Akash Madhwal also became the first bowler to record a wicket in an IPL playoff game, breaking Ankit Rajpoot’s previous record set in the league for greatest bowling stats by an uncapped player. It was also Akash Madhwal’s first five-wicket haul in IPL and T20 cricket.
