As the youngest player to score a hat trick in the IPL, Sam Curran holds the honour. Sam Curran’s grandfather played First Class cricket for Rhodesia, and Sam Curran’s father played national cricket for Zimbabwe. Sam Curran is a small, mild-looking left-arm seamer who can swing the dukes away from right-handers because of his natural angle. Sam Curran also bats well further down the order, and considering how natural he appears with the bat in his hand, that may soon become his major ability. Sam Curran chose the more traditional path, while his brother Tom Curran rose to prominence to become predominantly a limited-overs bowler.

Career :

Sam Curran was hailed as a prodigy when he was younger and advanced quickly through Surrey’s age division cricket before moving to Zimbabwe’s under-13 ranks. At 17 years and 40 days, Sam Curran made his FC debut for Surrey and made an immediate impression by taking five wickets against Kent. Soon after, Sam Curran was selected for the 2016 under-19 World Cup. Later that year, Sam Curran was also selected for the England Lions’ trip to the United Arab Emirates. Sam was thrust into the national spotlight after Ben Stokes suffered an injury, earning his first Test appearance against Pakistan in June 2018 at Headingley. In the summer of 2018 at home, Sam Curran experienced his greatest moment under the sun as he faced India, the top-ranked team in the world at the time. Although Sam Curran was primarily selected as a bowler, his talents with the bat at number eight allowed England to come back from middle-order collapses match after match. It came as little surprise when he was crowned Man of the Series for his all-around efforts, which helped England win 4-1 with 272 runs and 11 wickets. Sam Curran continued to perform well on England’s trip of Sri Lanka, helping the country completely humiliate the islanders. Sam Curran’s red ball game diminished in the ensuing months, and his visits to South Africa and New Zealand produced only fair results. A back problem kept Curran out for a significant portion of 2021, which meant he missed the T20 WC and that season’s IPL. Injuries also took their toll on the young player. Sam Curran’s white-ball form, however, was taking a different turn. While on tour in India, he rose to fame with a Man of the Match effort in which he struck 95* in an ODI and nearly chased down a large mark of 329 after an unlikely circumstance. Curran scored his first ODI fifer against Sri Lanka soon after that series. The 2022 T20I World Cup marked Sam Curran’s pinnacle moment in limited-overs cricket. In that competition, he was given a new assignment as a death overs bowler, and he excelled in it. Curran kicked off the World Cup with a goal against Afghanistan and finished it with a 3/12 effort that earned him Man of the Match honours against Pakistan in the championship game, helping England win the cup. Sam Curran was named Player of the Tournament after taking 13 wickets overall at an average of 11.38. Since the World Cup, Curran’s performance has slightly deteriorated, with poor results on his tours of South Africa and Bangladesh. Despite this, Sam Curran continues to be a staple of the English white ball setup, having greatly improved his bowling.

IPL :

At the 2023 auctions, Punjab Kings made history by spending a fortune on Sam Curran, an all-around talented player from England. The 24-year-old became the priciest purchase after being acquired by PBKS for an astounding sum of Rs. 18.5 crores. Chris Morris, a South African all-rounder, had previously held the record, which Curran surpassed. The Royals had spent Rs. 16.5 crores at the IPL 2021 auction. The clever cricketer Sam Curran, who was born in Northampton and made his IPL debut three years ago, quickly stood out, taking 13 wickets, and scoring 95 runs, with an undefeated 55 as his highest score. Sam Curran was the  Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup. After being elevated to the top in 2020, Curran demonstrated his prowess with the bat by leading Chennai Super Kings with 186 runs and a half-century. Curran had a challenging IPL 2021 season, taking just nine wickets and scoring just 56 runs. Sam Curran chose not to participate in the IPL 2022 super auction in order to concentrate on his rehabilitation.
