Shardul Thakur, despite initial criticism for his height and weight, became a part of the Mumbai domestic team. Shardul Thakur’s first-class debut for Mumbai was in November 2012, where Shardul Thakur struggled initially with a bowling average of 82.0 from his first four games. However, Shardul Thakur improved in the following seasons, taking 27 wickets at 26.25 in 2013-14 and an impressive 48 wickets at 20.81 in 2014-15. Shardul Thakur made his List A debut in February 2014 and his ODI debut in August 2017 against Sri Lanka. Shardul Thakur wore the number 10 jersey initially, following Sachin Tendulkar, but later changed it to 54 due to controversy. Shardul Thakur made his T20I debut in February 2018 and was selected for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. In the historic Gabba Test against Australia, Shardul Thakur scored 67 runs and took 7 wickets. Shardul Thakur performed well in the 2021 England tour, with a quick half-century and three crucial wickets in the fourth Test.
