Background :

Shreyas Iyer was born on December 6, 1994, competes internationally for India in cricket. Shreyas Iyer has played for the Indian team in all formats. Shreyas Iyer became the first Indian player to accomplish so by scoring a century in his first test match and a half-century in the second innings against New Zealand in November 2021. Shreyas Iyer leads Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and competes for Mumbai in domestic cricket. At the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Shreyas Iyer was a member of the India Under-19 cricket team. Santosh Iyer, a Tamilian, and his mother Rohini Iyer, a Tuluva, welcomed Shreyas Iyer into the world on December 6, 1994, in Chembur, Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer’s ancestors were from Kerala’s Thrissur. Shreyas Iyer received his education at Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai as well as Don Bosco High School in Matunga. Shreyas Iyer was discovered by instructor Pravin Amre at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana when he was 18 years old. Shreyas Iyer assisted the Podar College squad in Mumbai in winning some trophies during his graduation.

Career :

In 2014, Shreyas Iyer represented the Trent Bridge Cricket Team during a trip to the UK, where Shreyas Iyer scored 297 runs in three matches at an average of 99, including a highest score of 171, which set a new team record. In the same season, Shreyas Iyer also made his first-class cricket debut in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy, scoring 809 runs with an average of 50.56, including two centuries and six fifties. Shreyas Iyer was the 7th highest run-scorer in the tournament. In the following Ranji Trophy season (2015–16), Shreyas Iyer became the top scorer with 1,321 runs, including four centuries and seven fifties, at an average of 73.39. This made Shreyas Iyer the second player to score 1,300 runs in a single Ranji Trophy competition. Shreyas Iyer achieved his highest first-class score of 202 not out of 210 balls against the Australian team in a practice match. Shreyas Iyer’s impressive performances earned him the vice-captaincy of Mumbai for the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Shreyas Iyer scored 373 runs in seven matches. Shreyas Iyer was also appointed the captain of India B’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy, where Shreyas Iyer emerged as the leading run-scorer with 199 runs in three matches. Shreyas Iyer set a record for the highest total by an Indian batsman in a T20 match when he scored 147 runs in the opening round of the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.In March 2021, Shreyas Iyer signed with Lancashire for the 2021 season of the Royal London One-Day Cup. Shreyas Iyer made his international debut as a substitute fielder for India’s Test squad against Australia in March 2017. Shreyas Iyer later made his T20I debut against New Zealand in November 2017, and Shreyas Iyer’s ODI debut against Sri Lanka in December 2017, where Shreyas Iyer scored 88 runs from 70 balls. Shreyas Iyer achieved several milestones in international cricket, including scoring the most runs in a single over by an Indian batsman in ODIs and achieving his maiden century in ODI cricket against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer was named as one of the reserve players for India’s squad in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and made his Test debut in November 2021 against New Zealand, scoring a century in his debut match. Shreyas Iyer was named the ICC Player of the Month for February 2022 and received the Man of the Match award for his performances in the second Test against Sri Lanka. IPL :

In the 2015 IPL players auction, Shreyas Iyer was signed by the Delhi Daredevils for 2.6 crores, making him the highest-earning uncapped player in the tournament. Shreyas Iyer scored 439 runs in 14 matches, with an average of 33.76 and a strike rate of 128.36, earning him the title of Emerging Player of the 2015 IPL. Shreyas Iyer was retained by Delhi Daredevils (later renamed Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL Auction and was appointed as the team’s captain on April 25, 2018, becoming the youngest captain in the history of the IPL at the age of 23 years and 142 days. In Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy debut, he scored an unbeaten 93 off 40 balls with 10 sixes, leading Delhi Daredevils to a total of 219/5 and earning the Man of the Match award. Shreyas Iyer was retained by Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2019 Season, where Shreyas Iyer led the team to the playoffs for the first time in seven years. In the 2020 season, Shreyas Iyer continued as the captain and led Delhi Capitals to their maiden IPL final against Mumbai Indians. Despite Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 65 off 50 balls, Mumbai Indians emerged as the winners. Shreyas Iyer missed half of the IPL 2021 season due to a left shoulder injury sustained while playing for India. Shreyas Iyer made his comeback for Delhi Capitals in the same season. In the 2022 IPL Auction, Shreyas Iyer was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 12.25 crores and was appointed as the team’s captain.
